tardy if you come to class without a pencil and have to borrow one from a
neighbor.) ·Scientific Calculator (It must have sin, cos,
tan and exponential functions.)Mr. Benton requires a TI 84. I

Extra Help: Before School (7:00 to 8:00 AM) After School (3:30-4:00)or by appointment. I will be in my room during these
hours unless I let class know. I am more than happy to help you one-on-one
with your questions and homework.I want you to be successful, and one way you can do that is by
taking the responsibility to come and see me if you do not
fully understand any concept taught in my class. This is time when you can also go over a quiz/test that
you received a low grade on and fix your missed problems. Attendance: If you have an unexcused absence
you will not be allowed to make up any of the work that
you missed on that day. If you
have an excused absence, make sure to notify me as soon as possible
and I will make accommodations for you.You have one day for each day you have an excused absence to make up all the work you
missed. Please come to class prepared and
on time. You must be in your seat
and ready to learn when the bell rings. If you need to return to your locker to get something during
class it will be counted as a tardy. After 2 tardies you will
not be admitted to class when tardy but will be sent to the office and will
receive an unexcused absence for that class period. The unexcused absence will
count toward
a student being put on “No Credit” status.Students may be tardy for class a total of 4 times per semester
without other consequence. The consequence for an accumulation of 5 tardies in
a semester and all tardies there after that semester will be an hour of
detention for each tardy. After a total of 10 tardies in the semester you will be
put on no credit status. Grading Policy for Algebra 1: Grades will be posted/updated
online on a weekly basis.Please
check your grade weekly to make sure you know what your current grade is.Let me know if you see
any errors. Your grade is broken down into
three parts: - 5% weekly stations - 5% homework - 10% quizzes - 80%tests
Reported grades will be based on
your overall percentage in the class. The break down is as follows: A 94% A- 92%
B+ 90% B 84%
B- 82%
C+ 80% C 74%
C- 72%
D+ 70% D 64%
D- 62%
<62% F
Quizzes/Tests for Algebra 1: Three quizzes will be given
throughout most chapters and a test at the end of each chapter. All quizzes and tests will be announced
in advance. It is very important that you
spend time the night before a test or quiz looking over your notes from that
section and reviewing how to do each type of problem.Find a quiet place at home or at the library where you
can study. A cumulative test will be given
at the end of first semester and will cover all of the chapters from that
semester. A final test will be
given at the end of the year and will cover all of the chapters from the year. I do allow tests to be retaken. The first retake will usually be done during class time. Corrections on the previous test must be done and must be submitted to me a day prior to retaking the test.If corrections are not
done correctly, you will be required to redo them prior to retaking the
test and the test will have to be retaken on your time. Homework: Assignments will be given almost
daily and will be completed to the best of your ability before you return to
class the next day.You are
expected to convincingly show me you know how to find the answer on every problem
to receive
full credit (a.k.a. “show your work”). You will check your daily
assignment and will then have the
opportunity to fix any missed problems and ask questions. All assignments will stay in the your
notebook until the time of a quiz over the specific section. You will have at least a day between the time of
an assignment and a quiz. Occasionally, worksheets will be required to be completed. You must come to class with your
worksheet completed to the best of your ability. Incomplete work will result in
a loss of points on that worksheet.Late worksheets as well as homework is still required regardless of when it is submitted and will be given a grade. Expectations: No calculator games, cell phones,
ipods or head phones are allowed in my classroom unless they are to be used during the class time. (i.e. the stopwatch on a cell phone)All electronic devices in the previous
list that are visible to me or disrupt the classroom with noise will be confiscated
and given to the principal and held there until the end of the day. You are responsible for the
condition of the textbook you are given. Please take care of it!You must cover your book. For each day that you do not have it covered
you will not receive credit for your work. A student involved in any
form of cheating will automatically receive zero creditfor his/her work.
